    November 15, 2017

There is really nothing better during these gloomy months, than staying in and making that mark up of your Netflix account subscription worthwhile. And do we have a great Top 5 for you! This month’s supply is diverse, with various genres, a great documentary and a groundbreaking film. So take a look at our Top 5 ‘New on Netflix’ November!

    The Punisher, November 17th 2017

This month is a great one for all the Marvel fans out there, because The Punisher will be released on Netflix on Friday, just in time for some serious binge watching this weekend. With a multitude of fight sequences, this is a action-packed series with a severe asskicking factor. Jon Bernthal is well cast portraying The Punisher as a brutal and lonely killer although he has his moments showing his softer side. The rest of the characters are a great addition and they took the opportunity for the viewer to get to know them as well, which makes the serie even more complete. As I have watched several trailers, I would like to warn all viewers not familiar with the serie, because it’s not for the faint hearted!

    Alias Grace, November 3rd 2017

From a totally different genre, is the new serie Alias Grace. Based on the true story of Grace Marks, an Irish immigrant working as a housemaid, who was imprisoned in 1843 after being accused of the murder of her employer Thomas Kinnear. A decade after the event Dr. Jordan starts treating here, in pursue of discovering the true story whether she had committed the murder or not, since she claimed that she has no memory of what happened. From the same writer of the successful serie The Handmaid’s Tale, Margaret Atwood, what you can expect is a beautifully intriguing and layered series, which will make you end up pondering over the fact whether she was guilty or not.

    Godless, November 22nd 2017

I will watch anything by Steven Soderbergh and although you’ll have to love the western drama, Godless is certainly a one-to-watch. Based on the novel by Stephen King the viewer is promised some gloomy gun slinging settings. The story is set in a small mining village La Belle, where the women who reign the town form a front to protect themselves from the infamous criminal Frank Griffin and his gang, looking for revenge against Roy Good, an ex-member who betrayed his gang. The cast consists of Jeff Daniels, Kim Coates (Sons of Anarchy) and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (GoT) which make the perfect pairing to the rest of the ingredients for this perfect set up for a seven episode Western series.

Cuba and the cameraman, November 27th 2017

One of the good things about Netflix is it’s educational value (when desired), because it has many great documentaries available. A great one coming out this month is Cuba and the Cameraman, which follows the filmmaker Jon Altman on his exciting journey, following Fidel Castro and three Cuban families over a period of four decades, capturing pivotal historic moments and how the country and its people were affected and have evolved over the past forty years. A great documentary and portret about an intriguing country.

    Mudbound, November 17th 2017

Last but not least, if there is one film that should be on your watchlist, it should be Mudbound. Based on the novel of Hillary Jordan, the story is set in Mississippi in the period before, during and post World War II, where two poor families, one white farmers and the other black who work the white family’s land, suffer the consequences of two men in their families being shipped off to serve as soldiers. They come back home trying to cope with their traumatic experiences and somehow form a bond, which causes friction in their families who can’t understand, let alone accept. An outstanding piece of work by director Dee Rees and great cast, consisting of Jason Clarke, Queen Latifah and Carey Mulligan among others.
