Last Thursday Lianne La Havas performed in De Oosterpoort, Groningen as part of her European tour. Her latest album ‘Blood’ was released in July and she was one of the most talked about artists of 2015’s festival season. So when we heard that she was coming to the north, we just had to go and see her!
She brought a promising support act with her, named Roseau who has been touring with her on her through Europe. Roseau gave an impressive performance with songs of her debut album ‘Salt’. Catch her on Spotify or Soundcloud to experience her unique style. Kids And Drunks is her new single and she is surely an artist to keep track of and she was a great warm up for the rest of the show.
Seeing Lianne perform live, made us even bigger fans, because what an amazing voice she has! Her soulful sound is one that will stick with you for sure. Although her second album is one where she describes that she went back to her roots, which are Greek and Jamaican, she stays away from the popular reggae sound. Her music can best be described as jazzy pop/folk, with her own special touch.
The tracks on her album, such as Unstoppable and What You Don’t Do where the ones most recognizable, but let’s not forget the rest! There was this nice variety of songs, that made the crowd dance during her more upbeat tracks, and her moving ballads made us all believe everything she had to say about love.
It’s so cool to see someone fill up a room with their energy, move people with their sound and lyrics. Lianne La Havas is just someone who is able to achieve all that. All we can say is, that if you have a chance to see Lianne perform live, please go and get yourself those tickets!
