Spice it up!

Spice it up

OK, it’s time to spice things up! And we mean that in the literal sense of the word, because for our Spice it up smoothie we are using a bit of red pepper. Don’t worry, you will not need a bottle of water on the side, but we wanted to give it that little extra bite if you will, to kick start your system for a whole new week!

We got our inspiration for the Spice it up smoothie through this red pepper plant in my kitchen which is a huge supplier of big bright red peppers. Loving it, because I love my spicy foods and so why not try out and see if it works as an ingredient in our smoothies? It turned out really great, and as all the ingredients we use, red pepper has major health benefits.

List of Ingredients:
– 1 cup of cubed Pineapple
– ½ cup of sliced Mango
– ¼ of a Cucumber
– ¼ Red Pepper (seeded)
– 1 cup of Coconut Water

Tip: Not all red peppers have the same level of spiciness. So add a small amount at first and put some more in if you think it could need some more. Best not to add the seeds, since they contain most of the heat, remember it’s about the flavor!

The Spice it up Smoothie Song: Of Monsters and Men – Dirty Paws

Of Monsters and Men is an Icelandic indie folk-pop band. The band’s 2011 debut album My Head is an Animal, reached the No.1 position in Australia, Iceland, Ireland and the U.S., and had major success in Europe as well. You might know their lead single “Little Talks” which had non-stop airplay for weeks, reaching the Top 10 in most music charts in Europe.

The band is currently working on a new album, but there is no release date yet. So we just want to give you a little heads up and keep in mind that new music is coming. Their song Dirty Paws was featured in the trailer for the 2013 film “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” (starring Ben Stiller and not to mention partially filmed in Iceland – Fun Film Fact!) and the Iphone 5 Introduction video released in September 2012. For us, it’s just a lovely song for a Monday!
