We are movie aficionados, which results in being unhealthily impatient for a movie to be released, hours of long talks about movies we gotta watch or were watched and which we will love forever or we think were a complete waste of time. But don’t worry, we won’t make this endless conservation into a post.
However, with award season in full swing, we practically follow every single thing about the 88th Academy Awards and obviously have a seasonal life mission to watch all nominated movies in all categories. If only we could make a living off watching movies and tasting food, we would be so happy! Ok wandering off, back to the Oscar’s. There has been so much buzz around these films and what a great selection! We all admire them for their ability to amaze us, so we had to share our Top 3 Academy Award nominated films in the Category Best Picture with you. Definite ones-to-watch, like right now!
1. The Revenant
We know, we know, it’s not a surprising choice to put The Revenant on first place, but what an amazing film. For me, a film is a success when it makes me reflect on it long after I have watched it. It seems like everything about this movie comes together brilliantly and we can’t imagine the grueling challenge the actors and crew experienced for being able to make this beautiful piece of art. What a great performance by Leonardo DiCaprio! The polls are suggesting that this year is the year he will finally win an oscar, and he absolutely deserves it. Plus, we hope Alejandro González Iñárritu will bring more of these movie gems to us!
Heartbreaking, frightening and courageous are the first three words that come to mind when we think of Room. The interaction between Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay’s characters is this intense mother-child love. As a young mother, she makes every attempt to give her child everything he needs. Jack, as young as he is, is so mature for his age, curious and bright, which is instantly endearing and while watching the story unfold, you can’t imagine how one could ever survive the horrific situation they are in, where after they manage to escape starts a whole new chapter of survival in the real world.
Nowadays we easily cross oceans without even thinking about whether we are going to see our loved ones again. Brooklyn makes us feel what it took to cross the ocean in search of a better life and how immigrants tried to make it for the best being away from their home country. Saoirse Ronan was a promising child star and is now fully capable of carrying her own as a lead actress. We love the Irish countryside views and beautiful Irish accent! What an amazing story about young courage, being homesick, love and choosing your life’s path.
